MyDD Now Ships CD’s and DVD’s Automatically on eBay

I ve been flooded with emails from frightened Ebook
sellers and other marketers asking me what to do.
In the coming days, I will be posting more info on
this subject and why I think this change will infact
BENEFIT you as a smart marketer, but today I wanted
to announce something that will put a lot of your minds at ease.
As you know, owning a quality product like MyDD

I kind of curious about something. You all are treating Ebay as if it is the only place on the internet where digital downloads are being sold.
All of these other vendors, myself included, are still going to be selling digital downloads while everyone on Ebay is selling cd’s and dvd’s is going to be charging shipping and handling charges and raising their prices to cover these charges.
Kind of curious how you are going to make money this way.
I am going to be starting an aution of my own. It is not as nice as Ebay but my prices are cheap. The name is digitalauctions.us . You are welcome to come there if you like. You are welcome to invest in it if you like.
The theme is going to be digital products as the main subject but there will be other items as well.
I am figuring that if there are 40,000 items a week on Ebay that is $10,000 a week that they are throwing away and I am going to try to get some of this action.
Anyone else interested?

There is obviously still a lot of attention being given to eBay’s decision and your offer of a quick and efficient solution seems perfect.

just to clarify something,
this new feature will work on your websites
too and everywhere you ve been able to sell
already (it is not just restricted to ebay)
also, Charles, of course the price will be
higher for the end buyer BUT since this is
a policy for EVERYONE, everyone will have to
raise their prices. So a $7 product that now
is considered expensive, could turn out to
be the cheap one.
kinda like how gas goes up, all gas stations
raise prices. Consumers still buy. I remember
a few years back $1.20 per gallon of gas was a
ripoff. I ll take $1.20 Any day of the week
now even if I had to drive 50 miles to get it.
Regarding the cost of the new feature, the
feature itself will be FREE for all existing
customers. The cds will cost around $1.75 + S&H
which is VERY affordable, and you dont
have to pay ANYTHING until after you sold one.
You will pay per CD AFTER you already received
payment for your customer.

helo socrates, first time i give comment here. by the way my country (Malaysia) doesn’t allow us to send CD/DVD out of Malaysia. this problem will give a very big impact to us (internet marketer).

It’s so refreshing to see someone takin the high road on this little speed bump that ebay has put on the road to the bank.
I sell gourmet coffee and have had to raise the price of my coffee several times over the past 5 years. Guess what…I have most of my same customers…and even more…many more customers than when I started out.
Everyone is affected by change and the cost of doing business. It’s called progress.
I think with the simple addition of a squeezepage
in your ebay classified ad you’ll be so far ahead of a regular auction that you’ll be very pleased with the changes.

this is really stirring the pot anxious to see the new software update.
I wanted to tell Charles, I too had that same idea for starting a digital site…..I have a “”dot com”” name that would be perfect. sometimes two heads are better than one
However that is not a quick solution, but one definitely to consider, for now I believe we have to keep all other alternatives open and with Socrates software and advice we can’t go wrong.

Sounds like a link to Kunaki. You’ve stopped me in my tracks as I was looking at buying one of the scripts out there that would have automated this. I was also thinking how can I link it to MyDD and also automatically get buyers added to my autoresponder.

That’s very good news indeed and I am not surprised you saw the opportunity and jumped in quick to provide a solution. It’s what we have come to expect from you!
Will the new features you announced be compatible with older versions of MyDD? Any chance of you offering a discount for those who want to upgrade to the latest version?
Now, a note about classified ads. Yesterday, eBay cancelled a classified ad I was running for “violation of linking policies”. This was because I mentioned my website’s home page URL, mustseepromotions.com, in the ad. I also had a link to a page on my site giving further information for the product (which, I believe, is permitted), and a HTML opt-in form (not Javascript). I am mentioning this because there are many people that believe classified ads are exempt from the linking policies that apply to BIN and auction listings; I, too, was guilty of that until yesterday. eBay’s help guide for classified ads is quite vague, and I thought that it had been deliberately left that way to allow sellers to use classified ads for affiliate marketing, list building, etc. But I believe all that is about to change.
I am begining to think that the About Me page will come under fire next. Anybody have any views about this?
Anyway, despite the hardship and changes that honest sellers may face, I believe that eBay’s move to clean up its site is a good thing. It should benefit all in the long run.

My DD has done nothing but quietly make me a nice profit week after week. The Ebay switch caught me off guard but I’m glad to see that you’re on top of it. I sell some 80 books and 60 small ebooks on my site and on Ebay and if you can get the CD and DVD issue off my mailing back, then send me the info. I’m 80 and work alone, burning my CDs and DVDs and mailing them which is why the MyDD was a godsend for time saving and profits. Let’s have more of the same.

I am really glad that Socrates is on top of this eBay situation! I cant wait to see the new feature with respect to shipping cd and dvd products.
I too am considering setting up an auction site that would feature only digital products. I know this may be a long shot as others likely have the same idea, as in the above post. That’s ok though; competition makes the world go ’round, and may the best auction win!! Obviously eBay will be the loser in this.
Now that eBay is getting out of the digital downloads, sellers will definitely need to become more creative in their marketing activities. Certainly eBay’s Classified Ad are a good feature and are inexpensive, relatively speaking, but only if you limit yourself to one or a few listings. Otherwise, putting up a bunch of listings will be very costly. On the other hand though, this could be profitable if one sells a “value” product. One way to use Classified Ads would be to insert a link to a website with shopping cart that sells many digital products (ebooks, software). Using MyDD will be useful in this respect. And I am glad I have my copy!
Sellers will also need to increase their advertising efforts to sell their ebooks and software. Of course there are the usual methods, i.e. blogs, ezines, newsletters, forums, joint ventures, affiliate programs. I have a feeling that Clickbank will soon become very busy!!
If this can be of any help to anyone, I can offer one partial solution that may be helpful.Am mentioning this because this is working for me, and I am thinking that perhaps it could be of some use to some of you at this time. I joined a website that offers free advertising tools and resources. No catch, no small print, no obligation to buy anything. No pressure! I use it myself and it works well for me. As a member, I can give away memberships .. for free. I am not selling anything, because there is nothing to sell… :0) You can check it out for yourself and then decide if this would be helpful to you. March 31 is fast approaching and I cant wait to look in eBay after that day. Am frantically looking now at listings for digital products because I want to buy products at cheap prices while I still can !!!

My two pennyworth:
In Australia’s ebay there is absolutely nothing about this.
Which means that I can keep selling digital products around the world as I do now.
If this new requirement comes in, who gets hurt the most? Ebay of course! Why would they want to reduce their revenue by about a third for some silly idea of making things better. How would it make anything any better and for whom?
Over the last 12 months my stats tell me I am selling less on ebay at a higher cost than all my other outlets and frankly I am nearly at the point of dumping ebay alltogether. Believe me there are better alternatives and even many other auction sites that perform as good or better in sales versus cost.
So I am not the least bit concerned with ebays new rules, if my sales get harder and more expensive then it’s goodbye ebay. How long do you think ebay will put up with that? How long will the buyers pay extra to buy through ebay when they can get a better deal elsewhere?
This is a competitive world we live in and ebay has to toe the line just like everyone else or go down as fast as they went up.
Don’t forget PayPal will suffer also.

Patch I spent about 3 hours today trying to work out how to do a digital listing and/or a classified one through eBay Australia – and wasn’t able to do either LOL. So I am pretty sure it’s happening there too, despite their help files saying you can do it!
Socrates – I don’t have MyDD but various people are pushing other scripts as a “solution” and they do NOT seem to interface with ebay/paypal the way you are suggesting – so well done for jumping on that!!! Can be used on own server OR ebay!

I don’t mind going backwards in terms of technology by placing a digital delivered item onto a cd 🙂
I’ve recently been creating a graphics design business, so now I can see my cd label/jewel casing design sales increasing.
It is great news that MyDD will be able to automate cd sales and I know exactly which company will be printing and shipping or the cd/dvds. Starts with a K lol.
My only concern is the shipping costs to a non US country are currently sitting at $7.50 With this in mind, on wil have to add a handful of very good bonuses to entice a buyer to buy from you.
At first when I heard the news what eBay have done, I was very angry and anti eBay. Having a couple of days to think about things I’m pleased to say I have calmed down and started to look at things in a positive way.
One of the main reasons about selling eBooks was everything was digital which cut alot of the physical work of packing and shipping. For me this way of doing business is NOT an option I have. So hearing about having your cd/dvd published and shipped has been a huge inspiration. Now hearing that this way of working will now be intergrated with MyDD has certainly made me more positive.
May I just make on request which I’m sure everyone will agree that it’d be a great bonus for MyDD users. Can you make a video tutorial on how this new way of working with cd/dvds will work in MyDD.

This is very good news indeed, as many ebay sellers are panicing about what they are going to do after 31 March. I understand from the ebaychatter forum that everyones listings in auction style or BIN will be pulled on 31 March and listing fees credited back.

So we will effectively have no items to sell from unless you go down the classified ad route. The April 1st deadline seems ideal then socrates to start listing physical CD/DVDs on Ebay. The cds will cost around $1.75 + S&H I understand, so do you have a rough idea what S+H price will be charged?

Thanks Socrates for being brilliant and solving an issue that feebay decided what is better for us(the customers, Sellers and Buyers). I am in Australia, and according to other sources, feebay has not enforced the restricted digital download policy here.
(It wont happen overnight, but it will happen)
There are Many other auction sites available, and in AU many of us use Oztion http://www.oztion.com.au/ (Not my site) instead of or because of feebay.
I was wondering what other auction sites are available in USA (and worldwide) that are known to allow digital downloads, AND are not fee hungry. I don’t want a list that goes on forever, just some large auction sites that you guys/gals trust, to use regularly.
Please assume that I have already done a google search and there are bulk many sites, too may to choose from.(local knowledge is great).
This info will also be helpful for others too.

Is it true that S&H is $5.00 per CD/DVD in the USA, and $7.50 S&H outside USA? That’s a bit pricey, I wish they would come down on those prices! But I suppose they have to make a profit, too.
More great information. I think everyone who wants to sell on eBay needs to realize all the changes so far this early in the year are an indication more is probably coming. We all need to subscribe to a variety of reliable and relevant newsletters and mailing lists to stay abreast of how to manage through the changes. I have lost money investing in digital delivery training products taht are no longer applicable (recently in fact) but there are ways to make the sale. Take a look at what you want to sell and how to change your marketing and delivery system to keep eBay happy. You may have to invest in some more software like MYDD so sell some more other product and put your profit towards that. We are in a risk/reward business and the smaller we are the smarter we have to be. Read a lot of the experts’ sites and don’t be afraid to ask for help. Most good ones will share so we are all successful. Keep on truckin’!

I am sure on the IE browser there is a place that reads CD labeledand printed £00.12p each
leave it with me folks I will check it out again and bring back the goodies
but then again the more of us using the MYDD system the price will be kept down
best way to do this is using Socrates advice
firstly getting the digital download out to customer immediate
with the promise of the hard copy which may contain some special free reward off to them on next available shipment, maximise that with a taster of what is in the pipe line for the future
and laugh all the way to the bank and back!!
not forgetting to pop an email of to them with thanks letting them know the cd is on its way
