Making Money with Ebooks and other InfoProducts…

Posted by: Socrates Socratous on: Nov 6th, 2007
Wow!
I am TOTALLY Blown Away by the amount of
replies I received to my last email.
If you missed it, I asked my
subscribers to reply with the answer
to the following question:

“What is the Single Most Important
Question YOU have about creating
Your own Information Products?

Also, out of all the replies I was to
randomly select one to win 2 tickets
to each of my upcoming e-events this
month and in January (value $2988).

I ll get to the winner in just a second
but before that, let me tell you one
thing…

The results of this little research
revealed that over 98% of you got it all
wrong!

You got it ALL WRONG about Ebooks
You got it ALL WRONG about Resell Rights
You got it ALL WRONG about Info Products

Here is the million dollar lesson hiding
in this email!

**STOP treating EBOOKS and other
Information Products like COMMODITY ITEMS!

Each information product such an ebook,
audio product, video course, etc, MUST
be created for a SPECIFIC reason and it
should always be a piece of a BIGGER
puzzle.

You really DONT want to make your money
by exchanging an ebook for little bit of
cash.

SERIOUSLY

There is a lot more involved than that
and 98% of people don’t realize it and
FAIL miserably.

Each info product, should be a link
to a CHAIN of actions, following up
from the previous action and leading
up to the next one.

and I am talking about upsells, downsells
cross-sells.

For example, you sell an ebook about
dog training on eBay and you make $1

Congrats!

You gotta sell 1000 of them to make
$1,000.

However, when you carefully select
your 1 dollar ebook as a prequel to
a $97 video dog training course,

and 5% of your $1 customers take you up
on that offer, you only need
to sell about 200 of the 1 buck
ebooks to make your thousand dollars.

Selling 200 ebooks on ebay is a
heck of a LOT easier than selling 1000.

Even better, if your $97 video training
course is carefully developed as a prequel
to a $497 package, and 20% of your
$97 customers take you up on that,
you make another 2 sales for a total
of $1000.

Making a grand total of $2200 with the
same 200 dollar ebooks.

This alone can be the thin line separating
success and failure for YOUR Business.

Dont take this lightly!

Ok, back to our Lucky Winner…

and the lucky one to get 2 tickets
for each of my 2 e-events (value: $2988)
is…

drum roll please..

the winner is:

Candace Sinclair

Congrats Candance!

I ll contact you by email separately
with the info about your prize.

Till Next time

You know Socrates, here it is again. Here is another reason why it’s difficult for the ‘cream to rise to the top’. I may know I am capable, I may be determined to succeed but if one of these teleseminars is the thing that could give me that ‘piece to the puzzle’ and I cannot afford it it may be another 3 years before I get ‘there’. And all because the average joe or jane can’t afford to hear you speak. Well have a good one and I hope it’s successful despite what I think.

You did not tell us the winners question. I am just curious what Candace Sindlare said.

    Thank you, Rob Kistner

I would like to know how to set up a selling site for ebooks, software and such, and also how to get PayPal to accept payments for me.

    Thank you

    Great article Socrates…As usual!!
You illustrate the point very well.
One thing I can never fathom out is that you see an ebook on Ebay for say 1 cent, quite often I will buy it, not because I want it but I wait to see why anybody would waste their time doing it.
I fully expect to be added to somebodies list or their is viral content in the ebook but on most occasions there is nothing. I can only assume that they want to be the poorest powersellers on Ebay….Some accolade!!
    I like your idea better!!

    Regards

    Chris

    Hey Socrates

First time posting on your Blog but to say that even though I have never paid to be part of any webcast of conferecnce you have held, I must say that I have and sure others have, learned a great deal from you and I would personally love to thank you for all you have done for all people on your mailing list.

Like many, we sign up to mailing lists and what not and find that after all the mailings, nothing is gained but your list really does put something back into the meaning of success.

Personally, I can’t afford to join your latest conference but I would like to again, thank you for being realistic and offering to better peoples perspective with online marketing and wish both you and anyone that will be taking part.

    Keep it up my friend,

    Jim

hello socrates, i have for a while been looking at you MDD package, and am at the point of purchase, in the past i have bought packages and have found them not to be as easy to use as they say. i would like to know that when i purchase i can get it to operating as mentioned probably not at blazing success but to have it working and i will work continue until it is successful. so i would most likely be calling someone for advice.

great job on keeping morale up
    to your and my success

WOW ……… Did i get it wrong

You got it ALL WRONG about Ebooks
You got it ALL WRONG about Resell Rights
You got it ALL WRONG about Info Products

I hold my hand up and confess that in the early days i got it completely wrong.

Trying to sell an ebook/product on Ebay was the the sole purpose then, but as you clearly state, this is not the case. Far greater profits and incresed income can easily be acheived using the simple techniques you have outlined here.

In reading all the comments here I see that many people are interested in your teleseminars but can’t afford them.

Now I know that in order to be successful you need to make money with them but I am wondering why (and perhaps you have as I am just new to the blog and have not read it all) you have not created some great program, for those who are inspired and want to be a part of these, for them to earn the right to participate in them?

Once again, the truth smarts a little to those of us starting out. Many of us in the early stages hear that the easiest way to start making a profit online is to have our own product, and the easiest is an ebook. However, many do not hear about how to set it up properly, to make it viral, and to set it up as a prequel for a higher end item. I enjoy the information you share so freely for anyone to read and understand, Socrates. Keep it up!

    Hi,

I have thought about expanding to eBay to do some list building.
