sitting at a coffee shop enjoying a nice cup<br />
of coffee with a friend. We just finished playing<br />
a 2 hour tennis game and we are getting ready<br />
to go have some more fun at the shooting range.</p>
<p>My friend is on the phone so I decided to write<br />
an email and share some quick tips that will help<br />
you make more sales.</p>
<p>&quot;7 things you MUST have on your Sales Page<br />
that significantly increase sales&quot;<br />
1. A compelling Headline</p>
<p>Having a headline that states your BIGGEST<br />
benefit and builds curiosity that leads your<br />
reader to read further down your sales page<br />
is a MUST.</p>
<p>MOST of your visitors will leave your page<br />
BEFORE reading anything more than your headline<br />
so the better the headline, the better the<br />
chance to read more and close the sale</p>
<p>2. Listing your benefits</p>
<p>You should have a list of your benefits each<br />
with an explanation on how this applies to<br />
your reader (i.e. what is it going to do for them)</p>
<p>3. Testimonials</p>
<p>Do not underestimate the power of testimonials<br />
Feedback from happy customers is one of the best<br />
forms of &quot;social proof&quot;.</p>
<p>If you are just starting out and have no<br />
customers, there are a couple of things you<br />
can do:<br />
- ask friends and family to review your product<br />
- Send review copies on forums to a few people<br />
in return for a testimonial<br />
- run a small PPC campaign before launching and<br />
give free copies in return for feedback</p>
<p>4. An image that represents your product.</p>
<p>an ebook cover, a software box, a DVD box image<br />
a report paperback cover image etc are some of the<br />
ways you can represent a digital product.</p>
<p>The image is extremely powerful. A picture is<br />
processed a LOT faster in people&#8217;s minds than<br />
blocks of text describing what the picture showcases.</p>
<p>5. a Professionally looking design</p>
<p>If your website is NOT professionally looking,<br />
then your potential customer will think that<br />
is how sloppy your product is as well and NOT<br />
buy from you.</p>
<p>A long form sales letter is Not the exception.<br />
there are many things you can do to make it look<br />
nicer. Here are a few:</p>
<p>- Put your letter in a 750 pixel table and center it<br />
- Put your text on white background<br />
- Use a border around your text<br />
- Layout the elements of your sales letter using<br />
&quot;balanced&quot; design principles<br />
- Use spacing and white space to enhance reability<br />
- etc etc</p>
<p>6. a PROMINANT order button/link</p>
<p>A light yellow box with a dotted border that<br />
restates the main benefits and call to action<br />
has proven to be a winner.</p>
<p>It is Extremely bad when your visitor is ready<br />
to order and cannot find your order button<br />
(it happened to me a few times.)</p>
<p>7. a Guarantee</p>
<p>You MUST have a quarantee. At least 60 days.<br />
It always increases conversions.<br />
But if you dont agree with me,<br />
think about it this way:</p>
<p>Your customers can contact their banks and<br />
do a chargeback which NOT only gives them<br />
a refund, but also hurt you (you end up paying<br />
on top of that). So why not offer the refund<br />
since you gonna end up giving it anyway.</p>
<p>Just do it and you will see what I mean by<br />
judging your results.<br />
8. (bonus tip)<br />
Your Bonuses.</p>
<p>Including relevant bonuses with your product<br />
almost always increases conversions. It increases<br />
your offer&#8217;s perceived value dramatically. Some<br />
people will even buy your product JUST for the<br />
bonuses. Make sure you give quality bonuses that<br />
complement your product.</p>

<p><strong>I am not talking about the travel industry<br />
I am not talking about putting on your safari boots</strong></p>
<p>If you are doing any type of online business<br />
pay close attention to this article.</p>
<p>If you are doing Adwords, eBay, Affiliate marketing<br />
or anything else, then understanding today&#8217;s<br />
concept can be the key to your success.</p>
<p>There are 2 ways to find a hidden city in the jungle.</p>
<p><strong>1. By chance.</strong> Meaning that you wonder around the<br />
jungle long enough that you found the hidden city.<br />
Lucky you. Chances of finding the city are slim<br />
to none</p>
<p><strong>2. Get a tour guide.</strong> Meaning that someone will show<br />
you the EXACT PATH to the hidden city. Your chances<br />
of NOT  finding it are slim to none.</p>
<p>The same goes for your <strong>website</strong> as well.</p>
<p>Your Goal is to take your customer by the hand,<br />
through your selling adventure, and make sure<br />
he arrives at the destination on YOUR TERMS.</p>
<p>In other words, become the tour-guide for your customer<br />
and show them the way.</p>
<p>Lets take a look at the following picture<br />

As soon as your visitor lands on your website<br />
<strong>his journey begins</strong>. You can either let them<br />
wonder around or take them by the hand and get<br />
them to do EXACTLY what you want.</p>
<p>Your <strong>sales letter</strong> is part of your virtual tour guide.<br />
Your sales letter is what is going to help your<br />
customer make a <strong>positive desicion</strong> at every decision point.</p>
<p>Your journey map must be well designed <strong>before</strong><br />
you even create your website. Your website<br />
must be build <em>with the map in mind.</em></p>
<p>Some keypointers:</p>
<p><strong>1.</strong> <strong>Eliminate any links on your page</strong> that are not<br />
part of the map. You dont want people clicking away<br />
and leaving your process</p>
<p><strong>2. Your sales letter should be constructed to<br />
help the customer make specific action(s)</strong> which<br />
will take them to the next step in the path. If you<br />
fail to do this, you are a bad tour-guide and your<br />
visitors will leave</p>
<p><strong>3. Make the transition between pages uniform.</strong><br />
you want the customer to feel they are in the same<br />
path (website)</p>
<p><strong>4. Carefully test every decision point</strong> to know<br />
the exact conversions numbers (how many people<br />
went to the next step out of all people). This is<br />
Extremely important. Keep in mind, without a map,<br />
you wouldnt know what to test, and what effect<br />
it has on your bottom line</p>
<p><strong>5. Make it as easy as possible to go through<br />
the journey</strong>.  The easiest it is to go to the next step,<br />
the more people will do it</p>
<p><strong>6. Take the customer to the next step in the path<br />
as fast as possible.</strong> For example, when paying for<br />
product A, redirect to product B upsell immediately.<br />
People are &#8220;hot&#8221; when they buy. Dont wait for them to<br />
cool off</p>
<p><strong>7. Make sure you bring &#8220;lost&#8221; customers back</strong> into<br />
the path (get an autoresponder series to keep<br />
bringing people back)</p>
<p>Having a map like this one, and knowing your<br />
numbers at every decision point is the key to<br />
a successful online business.</p>
<p><strong>Lets give a figurative example:</strong></p>
<p>lets say 1000 people go to your page and <strong>50%<br />
optin</strong> (that is decision 1, conv = 50%)<br />
That is a total of<strong> 500 people</strong> that went to<br />
the next step</p>
<p>from the people that opted in lets say <strong>2%<br />
purchase product A</strong> for $97. so we made <strong>10 sales</strong> from<br />
those 500 people. or a total of <strong>$970</strong></p>
<p>Say from those 10 people, <strong>20% buy product B</strong><br />
for <strong>$197</strong>. so 2 people bought for a total of $394</p>
<p><strong>Total Profit: 394+970 = $1364.</strong></p>
<p>Since you tracked all your numbers, lets try<br />
and see what happens if we <strong>increased </strong>the conversion<br />
of the Decision 2 point to 3%.</p>
<p>We make 15 sales of Prod A<br />
We make 3 sales of Prod B</p>
<p>for a total of 1455+591 = <strong>$2046</strong></p>
<p>That is almost <strong>$700 more</strong> just by working on a<br />
specific part of our process to make it better.<br />
(A small change)</p>
<p>Note: This was done with the same number of visitors.<br />
and not counting the people returning from the autoresponder</p>
<p>If we better other sections of our system, the numbers<br />
go up signifigantly.</p>
<p>You wouldnt be able to do this if you didnt know<br />
your numbers and if you didnt have a map to work<br />
with.<br />
So todays lesson:</p>
<p><strong>Make a Map, take your customer through the journey<br />
and test and track all conversions at desicion points.</strong><br />

to their websites with the hope of making a few bucks.</p>
<p><strong>Is traffic really the holy grail of a successful internet business?</strong></p>
<p>If you answered yes, <strong>THINK AGAIN</strong>&#8230;</p>
<p>Traffic is a very important part of a successful website<br />
<strong>BUT</strong> if you dont have the other parts in places, it will be<br />
a <strong>waste of time and money</strong>!</p>
<p>In order for your traffic to actually worth anything, you<br />
must <strong>do</strong> SOMETHING with it.</p>
<p>I call this &#8220;<strong>The Journey</strong>&#8220;. The marketing term for it is<br />
&#8220;marketing funnel&#8221;.</p>
<p>In short, it is <strong>the FLOW of traffic</strong> to and through your business.<br />
It involves <em>capturing</em> some of the traffic (lead generation)<br />
and <em>moving</em> the leads through different stages in order to<br />
<strong>increase their value</strong> (value of your lead = how much<br />
money you make from  a lead during the life of their relationship<br />
with you.)</p>
<p><strong>For example:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li><strong>1000</strong> visitors go to your website (traffic)</li>
<li><strong>500</strong> of them optin for a newsletter (leads)</li>
<li><strong>50</strong> of them purchased a $100 product (customers)</li>
<li><strong>25</strong> of those 50 purchased an additional $500 item (leverage)</li>
<li><strong>10</strong> of the 25 purchased a coaching program for $5000 <br />
(more leverage)</li>
<li><strong>5</strong> of them pay you $1000/month for continued education<br />
(Residual income)</li>
</ul>
<p>The process above <strong>will NOT happen on its own</strong>. It is a journey<br />
<strong>YOU</strong> must take your visitors through and do it correctly in<br />
order for it to work.</p>
<p>Note that the numbers of people are decreasing with every step<br />
creating a <strong>&#8220;funnel&#8221; effect</strong>.</p>
<p>This is a simplified example to show you how it works.<br />
It can be extended further to increase the value even more.</p>
<p>I created a <strong>diagram</strong> to show you a <em>metaphorical</em> representation<br />
of this concept which I think will &#8220;stick&#8221; in your mind and help<br />
you always keep it in mind when you create and optimize<br />
your business.</p>
<p><strong>I call this &#8220;The Swimming Pool&#8221; concept.</strong></p>

<p>Let me explain what this means and what it means for the success<br />
of your business.</p>
<p>There is a &#8220;<strong>RIVER</strong>&#8220;.</p>
<p>You take a &#8220;<strong>HOSE</strong>&#8221; and you plug it into the river.</p>
<p>The hose takes water from the river and adds it into your<br />
<strong>POOL</strong>.</p>
<p>The <strong>SUN</strong> heats up the pool and evaporates a percentage of<br />
the water inside the pool. (lost water)</p>
<p>there is a <strong>PUMP</strong> that <em>filters</em> the water from the pool and<br />
adds it back into it.</p>
<p>There is also <strong>another HOSE</strong> that takes water from the pool<br />
and adds it into the <strong>SPA</strong>.</p>
<p>The Red arrows show the direction of the flow in the diagram.</p>
<p>This is how a real live swimming pool works. So keep this in<br />
mind&#8230;</p>
<p><strong>How Does this relate to your Business?</strong></p>
<p><em>Lets break it down:</em></p>
<p>The river represents the <strong>traffic source</strong>. For example Google Adwords<br />
represents a <strong>river of people</strong>.</p>
<p>Having a hose bringing water to your pool, is like having an adwords<br />
campaign <strong>driving traffic to your website(s).</strong><br />
Some people will opt-in or buy, some will leave. <br />
People leaving (loss) is represented by the <strong>evaporation</strong>.</p>
<p>As soon as people are on your customer or mailing <strong>list</strong>, they are<br />
<strong>INSIDE your pool</strong>.</p>
<p>When you have an <strong>autoresponder</strong> series sent to your people from<br />
your pool, is like the <em>circulation pump</em> where you take people from<br />
the pool, <em>fliter them</em> and then put them back in the pool.</p>
<p>The evaporation process happens <strong>continuously</strong>. meaning that<br />
you always lose people from your list</p>
<p><strong>Your Goal is to bring more traffic in than what is lost through<br />
&#8220;evaporation&#8221;</strong></p>
<p>AND&#8230;</p>
<p><strong>Move people to your higher ticket items (Backend &#8211; SPA)</strong></p>
<p>IF you stop bringing traffic in, your pool and spa will eventually<br />
<strong>dry. </strong></p>
<p>This is a simplified model.</p>
<p>More things to consider:</p>
<ul>
<li>You can have the people in your pool and spa plug their hoses<br />
in other rivers and bring traffic to your pool (Affiliate -referral methods)</li>
<li>You can plug additional hoses to other rivers and get traffic in.</li>
<li>You can create more swimming pools and exchange traffic<br />
between them. (Cross Selling)</li>
<li>You can find other people with swimming pools and get them<br />
to exchange traffic with you (JV partners)</li>
<li>You can physically plug your hose on someone elses  pool<br />
and get some traffic from there (Integration Marketing)</li>
</ul>
<p>and so forth&#8230;</p>
<p>As you can see from this example, <strong>Traffic itself IS NOT important</strong>.<br />
<strong>Controlling the flow of traffic and converting it, is the<br />
most important thing of all.</strong></p>
<p>Also, knowing the <strong>cost</strong> of driving the traffic from each traffic<br />
source and how much money that traffic is <strong>worth</strong> to you,<br />
is FUNDAMENTAL.</p>
<p>Knowing the value of each person in your swimming pool will<br />
tell you exactly <strong>how much to pay for advertising</strong> without<br />
getting burned.</p>

<p>Do you ever wonder why some people are<br />
successful in selling online while others aren&#8217;t?</p>
<p>I used to wonder about the same thing some<br />
years ago.</p>
<p>when I first started online I did what most<br />
newbies would do. I put together a webpage<br />
threw it on the internet waiting for people<br />
to buy my software. I was actually able to<br />
drive traffic to that website and after<br />
a while I started thinking that nobody<br />
needed my product since I wasnt making any<br />
sales.</p>
<p>In fact, I was surpised because I thought<br />
my website looked pretty good. I had those<br />
flashy buttons, a picture of my software<br />
box, a few bullet points with the main features<br />
and a few links to support, about me,<br />
mission statement and some more of the<br />
&#8220;typical&#8221; stuff I was used to see on websites<br />
everywhere.</p>
<p>I was expecting that the website would be<br />
successful since it looked similar to<br />
most other websites out there. But I got nothing!</p>
<p>Does this remind you of anyone you know?</p>
<p>How about someone you know intemately?</p>
<p>Ever since however, I learned a lot about<br />
internet marketing, I turned<br />
that same website around to make me 5-figures<br />
every month all on autopilot.</p>
<p>Since you are reading my newsletters I would<br />
say you are one of the lucky ones, because<br />
I will share my knowledge with you and<br />
if you apply what you learn, you will also<br />
see your sales explode&#8230;</p>
<p>So lets start with the basics</p>
<p>I want you to ask yourself one question:</p>
<p>*If you have a product to sell online, What would<br />
be the purpose of your website?</p>
<p>&#8230;that&#8217;s right! To sell your product!!!</p>
<p>Key word: &#8220;Sell&#8221;</p>
<p>First thing you need to understand is that<br />
your website should be crafted in such way<br />
to do that one task, and do it best.</p>
<p>You have about 5 seconds to get your website<br />
visitor&#8217;s attention. If you fail to do that,<br />
the visitor will click his favorite [x] button<br />
at the top right corner of his browser to get out of<br />
your site.</p>
<p>Now you ask, &#8220;How do I grab my visitor&#8217;s attention<br />
quickly in order to spend more time to my site?&#8221;</p>
<p>That is called the &#8220;Headline&#8221;. You need to<br />
have a headline at the top part of your site<br />
that will &#8220;hook&#8221; your visitor into wanting to<br />
read more.</p>
<p>Do you read newspapers? magazines?<br />
In fact the most successful magazines on the<br />
news-stand are the ones with the best headlines<br />
on the cover. There is an ongoing &#8220;headline&#8221;<br />
war between these magazine publishers.</p>
<p>You also want to remove any links or images<br />
from the upper part of your site to avoid<br />
confusing the visitor. Dont give more than one<br />
choice to your visitor. That choice should be<br />
the headline.</p>
<p>If you have a link above the headline, then<br />
you just gave 2 options to your visitor.<br />
a) click the link<br />
b) read the headline</p>
<p>You dont want to do that. Just give them the<br />
option you want them to pick.</p>
<p>The headline should be followed by a sub-headline.<br />
Its purpose is to make the reader want to read<br />
your sales letter below.</p>
<p>Yes! I said sales letter. You should use a<br />
well written, compelling letter to sell to your<br />
prospect. You have one chance to tell your<br />
visitor what is that you are selling and<br />
why they should buy it from you. Tell them<br />
EVERYTHING they need to know about your product.</p>
<p>See one of the first mistakes I made, was that<br />
I didnt have a sales letter. Contrary to selling<br />
something people are already accustomed to, a<br />
well known brand item for instance, your item<br />
is probably unknown to them. The purpose of that<br />
letter is to make them feel how life would be after<br />
owning your product. You need to familiarize<br />
them with the item, make them feel why they<br />
need it. Then sell it to them. Actually<br />
they will be happy to buy it since they already<br />
crave the feeling of owning such product.</p>
<p>I am not going to go too deep into the art<br />
of copywritting. I will leave that for<br />
future newsletters.</p>
<p>One of the questions I usually get, is<br />
how long should my sales letter be? well,<br />
there is no fixed answer to that. Your letter<br />
should be as long as it needs to be to<br />
tell everything about your product without<br />
getting the reader bored.</p>
<p>What I am trying to say here, is that in order<br />
to start making a successful sales website, you<br />
need to remove all distractions (such as links<br />
and irrelevant information, like mission statements)<br />
and have a nice flowing sales process starting<br />
with the headline, going through the sales letter<br />
and concluding with the call to action</p>
<p>Of course there is much more to creating successful<br />
websites (Keep reading my letter to learn more)<br />
but this general guide will help you get started</p>
<p>As I told you in a previous letter, I am in<br />
the process of creating a <strong>software to automatically<br />

especially on eBay.</p>
<p>Resell rights gives the vendor permission to go on to resell a<br />
product they have bought to an unlimited number of people<br />
and keep 100% of the profits. It usually takes 1-5 sales<br />
to make back the money that they initially invested in the product.<br />

for you and what products to offer that people will come<br />
asking to buy them from you.</p>
<p>Have you ever heard of the saying:</p>
<p>&#8220;Supply and Demand&#8221;?</p>
<p>Well, I like to see this concept a little differently!</p>
<p>&#8220;Demand and Supply&#8221;!</p>
<p>Which means, find the hidden demand first (problem)<br />
and then <em>supply</em> the solution.</p>
<p>By implementing this strategy, you minimize the hardest<br />
part of doing business; &#8220;Selling&#8221;</p>
<p>What is better?</p>
<p>To try and &#8220;sell&#8221; a product to a bunch of people or <em>Let</em> the <br />
people that want your product come and buy it from you?</p>
<p>Here is an example to help you understand this principle:</p>
<p>a) If you stand in the middle of a <strong>starving crowd</strong> with a loaf<br />
of bread in your hands, people will be <em>begging</em> you to<br />

streets of Hollywood shouting:</p>

<p>You want to position yourself like in example (a) if you<br />
want to guarantee success. And you want to keep that<br />
in mind when you start your research.</p>
<p>First, drop all thoughts and clear your mind of everything<br />
you know about business.</p>
<p>Now think of the general category of a business you would<br />
enjoy working with. If you have a hobby that excites you<br />
it is a good place to start. Even though it is not a requirement<br />
choosing something you are familiar with and you enjoy, will<br />
keep you pushing during hard times to make it work.<br />
General categories can be: gardening, sport cars,<br />
pets, martial arts, parties, etc</p>
<p>Pick something very general that you enjoy working with.</p>
<p>Next you need to find people that share this same interest<br />
and tap into their thoughts and problems to create a more<br />
specialized group of people with similar problems.</p>
<p>No, you will not need any camouflage and wiretaps to find<br />
out what you need.</p>
<p>The internet is a great research tool that allows you to<br />
find everything you need to know, just by using your<br />
computer.  The offline and the online world work very <br />
much alike. They offer societies, cultures, groups, communities<br />
and many gathering places for discussions and help requests.</p>
<p>You can find an active group about virtually anything you can<br />
imagine on the internet. You can search for:</p>
<p>-Discussion forums<br />
-Groups<br />
-Blogs<br />
-Newsgroups etc</p>

<p>After you find groups related to your main category, you should<br />
start identifying repeated problems these specific groups are facing.<br />
Any question posted on these boards, are potential money makers<br />
for you.</p>
<p>One of the easiest way to create an infoproduct and to collect<br />
a number of questions tightly targetted to a specific group,research<br />
and provide answers to those questions, compile the information<br />
to a deliverable format (i.e. ebook) and you are done. Then you go<br />
back and sell it to those people that needed the answers in the<br />
first place.</p>
<p>Another thing you need to look at, is the present demand for<br />
the particular niche market you have chosen. And this is fairly<br />
easy to determine on the internet by analysing the volume of<br />
searches a specific keyword receives per month.</p>
<p>Find out if the market you have chosen has a good amount<br />
of searches each month for its main keywords:<br />

<p>I would look for markets with over 25000 searches using<br />
the tool above.</p>

product you are going to create (I will focus on information<br />
products), you can either create the product yourself<br />
or outsource it. You can easily find experts that are willing to<br />
create your product professionally for much cheaper than you<br />
think.</p>
