to a CHAIN of actions, following up

cross-sells.

For example, you sell an ebook about
dog training on eBay and you make $1

Congrats!

You gotta sell 1000 of them to make
$1,000.

However, when you carefully select
your 1 dollar ebook as a prequel to
a $97 video dog training course,

and 5% of your $1 customers take you up
on that offer, you only need
to sell about 200 of the 1 buck
ebooks to make your thousand dollars.

Selling 200 ebooks on ebay is a
heck of a LOT easier than selling 1000.

Even better, if your $97 video training
course is carefully developed as a prequel
to a $497 package, and 20% of your
$97 customers take you up on that,
you make another 2 sales for a total
of $1000.

Making a grand total of $2200 with the
same 200 dollar ebooks.

This alone can be the thin line separating
success and failure for YOUR Business.

Over the past few years I sold thousands of items
on eBay (all of them digital products) before I
discovered the idea I am going to share with you
in this blog post.

You can sell almost anything you want on ebay as
long as it is legal and not alive.

That includes selling ebooks and other digital
downloads.

I Bet you already knew that…

Am I really wasting my time here?

I dont think so! 

See, I talk with many of my thousands MyDD customers
on a daily basis and I found out that around 95% fail
to see the bigger picture
.

Most of these people are satisfied making a few bucks
per ebook they sell on eBay.  I say satisfied because
they DONT know what I am about to share with you.

eBay is an excellent source of targetted traffic.
Traffic from eBay is very different than the traffic
from PPC and Google Adwords.

WHY?

Because people that browse on eBay are Looking to
BUY something, meaning they are customers.

People that browse Google are mostly looking for free
information.

Got that?
The best way to use eBay is for LEAD GENERATION. in
other words, sell some ebooks on ebay for cheap with
the intention
of taking that new customer you got
for $5 and upsell something that is worth $65.

If it costs you $1 in fees to make that $5 sale, you
will need to sell 1000 ebooks every month in order to
make $4000.

That requires a lot of time and work to reach that level
not including the customer service headache of 1000
people a month, if you actually manage to sell 1000

Most people GIVE UP before they even come close to that

Now if you immediately offer an upsell for $65 to all
of your $5 customers, and lets say 1 out of 4 takes
your offer. that means for every 4 customers you make
((4 * $4) + $65) =$81.

That gives you a profit of about $20 per customer
instead of $4. Now you only need to make 200 sales a
month to reach $4000. that comes down to about 7 sales
a day
. which is very doable on ebay.
Now let me explain how this compares to google adwords.

When you post a listing on eBay you need to pay fees.
Lets say you pay  35 cents to post an ad for 7 days.

If you get 7 people to click on your ad, in reality
you paid 5 cents per click.

The way people find your ad on ebay is by searching
using the eBay search function.

Ebay will look for the search term in all listing titles
in their system and will show all listings that contain the
search term
.

So if you have a keyword-packed title in your ebay
listing, your ad will show every time someone searches
for those keywords, and you will get more clicks for the
same 35 cents.

That my friend, is what ebay and adwords have in common.

Your goal is to setup your listings so that they are
keyword packed to get more clicks for the same money.

THEN, take those leads you generated, and leverage them.

This is the way to make the real money on eBay. It is
also the way to test your sales pages and processes
before moving into Adwords.

That is the secret to eBay and adwords success,

LEVERAGE your LEADS.

I Hope you had a great Halloween day yesterday!
Time to get back to business 🙂

Here is a great article I just finished writing.
Read all of it. It is based on a great concept that
if you grasp it, it can change the way you do
business once and for all…

When you are trying to develop a strong customer base or
launch a business, you often need a hook to grab the
attention of shoppers.  Once you have their attention,
you want to reel prospects into your marketing funnel
and get them to buy as much from you as possible.

Smart vendors use a technique of “prospecting”.
This involves offering items for sale at absolute bargains
and the most incentives, in order to bring customers in,
and then once they are in the door and ready to buy,
offer them your real products of higher value.
The job of convincing them to buy has already been taken
care of and it takes far less work to encourage
them to buy more.

The key to upselling is to offer items that are related
to the item that the consumer has already decided to buy.

In fact I like a better a less known approach to this
technique and that is, doing it in reverse. Instead of
upselling related items (where you have a main item and
then you upsell other related things), have your main
item as the upsell and develop cheaper products to use
as front end sales.

In other words you have a main product, then find or
develop cheaper tightly related items to sell
in order to drive prospects to the main item. This way you
can develop as many “front end” items as you want, driving
traffic to your main product or product line, which in turn
can be automated and systemized.

This technique is especially powerful when used with eBay.
A buyer that has already made a decision to buy already
understands your product and its benefits.
They have already made a decision that they trust buying from you.
What better candidate can exist for an upsell?

the tedious task of associating products for upselling.
If the items you sell are informational in nature,
you can use a software package that provides the instant,
digital download upon purchase and of offering items for
upsell at checkout. Software like this, will automate most
of the process allowing you to focus on getting more sales
and growing your business.

I am taking a little break this Sunday
to write about something fascinating!

So, do you think grammar is important for your
ebay listings?

If you answered NO then you are correct!

Grammar is NOT important for your listings.

eBay works very similarly with PPC with the
difference that you don’t pay per click. BUT
it is mainly keyword based advertising. In other
words, when you type your search term (keyword)
in the ebay search box, eBay will go through all
the listing titles in their database and return
the results that contain the words you search
for.

So your job is to make the title of your auction
as keyword-rich as possible. Grammar Doesn’t Matter
much. for example, a grammatically correct title
would be:

NEW POWERFUL CASIO CAMERA THAT TAKES GREAT PICTURES

this title is a poor title that will not pull
as many bids (if any) because it doesnt contain
many keywords a buyer may search for.

Now look at this title:
CASIO EXILIM EX-S600 6.0MP DIGITAL CAMERA + DOCK + 1GB

Even though grammatically makes no sense, every word is
carefully selected to make this listing appear for
as many related keyword searches possible.

However…

Spelling IS very important for your listings. A
misspelled keyword in your title, can cause you to
miss out on a lot of bids, just because people
will not usually search for misspelled words.

I said “Usually” because if you are a savvy ebayer
you will want to search for misspellings in order
to find bargains.

In fact you can be running a profitable business on
ebay just with misspellings and it is very easy to
do.
